Feature Profile: Everyday Noize

As a music producer and podcaster with a budget minded approach to digital home recording I've been looking for a collection of sound effects that don't cost an arm and a leg. Yes, there are some outstanding sound effect collections available, but seriously, I can't spend $99 or $199 on sounds. There are talented podcasters and multimedia producters out there who just can't afford the expensive stuff.

Luckily, the technology that allows everyday guys to record podcasts also allows creative foley artists and recordists to digitally record their own high quality sound effects. Typically if I need a sound I just record my own with my own equipment and get what I want for free. But there are some sounds that you just can't do at the drop of a hat, and the work and time involved makes you start looking again for a library of sounds to pick and choose from. Well, I found a collection of 201 sounds on CD that are great for a wide range of applications.

Roger Kahn's Everyday Noize, a compilation of 201 sound effects, is perfect for podcasters and home audio production studios on a shoestring budget. This collection will only set you back about $10. I've listened to every sound, and have used some for my own music and other audio productions. They are excellent quality. YouTubers will find these sound effect handy for their video productions as well.

Everyday Noize features outdoor sounds like birds, dogs, night ambience (crickets, etc), various rain and thunder sounds, a babbling brook, industrial sounds, household sounds, motors, cars, guns, fireworks, horns, rings, dings, and clinks, creaking doors, scraping and cracking noises, plus sci-fi sounds, comical and strange sounds like gurgles, farts and burps. Plenty of weird and wonderful noises to get your podcast sound pro, and keeping listeners intrigued.

This is a great sound effect collection for a very low price. 201 digital sound effects for $9.99. I own it, and I highly recommend it! Visit Roger's Website for more information.
